Wrestlers dominate Charger Invite

Colfax wrestlers took three titles and scored 182 points Saturday to top 16 other teams in the Charger Invitational tournament at Ritzville.

Number two finisher was Rainer with 126, and third place finisher was Liberty with 103.

Travis Knauff of Garfield-Palouse, one of the trio of wrestlers who have collided in the 145 class, moved down to the 138-pound class and won the title with a 3-0 run.

Reggie Jones also pegged a 3-0 to take the title for 145, and Mitch Barney had a 3-0 for the title at 152. Second-place finishers with 2-1 marks were Chris Jones at 132, Dane Hall at 145 and senior Brian DeYoung, who returned to the action last week at 199.

Last Thursday at the Ritzville NE league meet, the Colfax-GP contingent booked five wins and 10 defeats with several Colfax wrestlers competing outside their weight class. Results are as follows: 106 - Garrett Phillips 1-1; 120 - Joe Rogers (Gar-Pal) 0-2; 126 - Jonas Canup 0-2; 132 - Chris Jones 1-0; 145 - Reggie Jones 0-1; 145 - Dane Hall 1-0; 152 - Mitch Barney 2-0; 152 - Blake Bodey 0-2; 195 - Brian DeYoung 0-1; 220 - Nick McAdams 0-1.

Colfax and Garfield-Palouse wrestlers are slated to compete at Waitsburg in an SE session Tuesday and at a dual meet at Pullman Wednesday. They also plan to wrestle at Palouse today.
