County commissioners seeking to fill committees

The Board of County Commissioners is seeking to fill committee positions for the county and is asking for anyone interested to step forward.

“These advisory committees are very important to the functions of the county, but they are sometimes difficult to fill,” said commission chair Michael Largent. “We have an appreciation for and need for citizen involvement because that is what makes county government work.”

Committee openings include the blue ribbon advisory task committee, capital improvement project committee, citizens' committee on salaries for elected officials, classification committee, developmental services advisory board, lodging tax advisory committee, noxious weed control board, Palouse Empire Fair board, park board, planning commission and the solid waste advisory committee.

The assignments, duties and meetings vary depending on the committee, and those interested in serving on any committee are asked to contact the Board of County Commissioners through clerk Maribeth Becker.

Some of the openings represent districts, so assignments are based upon place of residence.

“I have applications, and I can accommodate anybody,” said commissioner Dean Kinzer.

“I can e-mail applications,” added Largent.
