Grant helps finish U-town library project

A $2,500 grant from OfficeMax in partnership with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories will help the Uniontown Library relocation and renovation project to reach near completion. The new library is expected to open in early February.

The final contributions allowed the library to include a separate children’s area with a sink for clean-up of crafts and experiments, child-sized table and chairs, and built-in cupboards for storage.

When complete, the Uniontown library’s relocation into the old fire station will cost $75,000 while providing a library with two- thirds more space than the old facility. The project also adds an accessible restroom, expanded seating and built in book return. Nearly $65,000 has been raised by local donations, business support and grants. Another $10,000 came from the town’s local budget.
