Ice Age chapter to present scablands lecture

The Palouse Falls Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute (IAFI) will host a lecture next week at The Gathering Place in LaCrosse Jan. 27.

“Geomorphology of the Channeled Scablands” will be presented at 7 p.m. by Lloyd Stoess, president of the Palouse Falls Chapter of the IAFI. Geomorphology is the study of landforms and the lecture is designed to help those who attend to develop an understanding they can observe in their own backyard. The presentation is also scheduled to appear in Washtucna and Ritzville on Jan. 25 and Jan. 28, respectively.

The Palouse Falls Chapter of the IAFI was formed last September, and the group has been hosting events to make the public more aware of the Missoula Ice Age Floods. They have also partnered with LaCrosse Community Pride in the hopes of creating an Ice Age Flood museum in LaCrosse.

The Palouse Falls Chapter, since its formation in September, has gained nearly 70 members.

The geomorphology lecture is free of charge.
