Colfax/Gar-Pal wrestlers top NWC tournament

Joey Rogers of Garfield/Palouse rounds up Sam Caisley of Moscow in the 120-pound class last week in the home meet at Palouse. Rogers took the match with a 9-4 decision.

Colfax and Garfield/Palouse wrestlers scored 123 points Saturday to top a 19-team entry in the tournament at Northwest Christian. The locals finished 25 points ahead of number-two Liberty.

Travis Knauff, who has dropped down to the 138-pound class, took the lone individual title with a run of three wins. He took the title on a 9-0 decision over Riener Schauer of Mt. Spokane.

Reggie Jones at 145, and Nicholas McAdams at 220, both advanced to title rounds. Jones dropped a 4-6 decision to Ky Adams of Waitsburg, and McAdams was pinned by Hunter Schurger of St. Maries in the third round.

Chris Jones at 132, Mitch Barney at 152 and Brian DeYoung at 195 each placed third.

Last Wednesday, Colfax and Garfield/Palouse wrestlers traveled to Palouse to face a lineup of foes from Moscow and Potlatch. Colfax won 44-22 in the team scoring.
