County 1B boys: Garfield/Palouse, Colton keep winning

In Southeast 1B league action this week, Matt Holbrook scored 45 points against Oakesdale, and Colton continued their winning streak, avenging an earlier loss to Grangeville for their fifth straight.

Colton 70, Grangeville 61

Nine of Carter Dahmen's 24 points came in a stretch of the fourth quarter against Grangeville Tuesday night, a team that beat Colton by 16 earlier in the year.

Dahmen and the Wildcats (5-8) took the win this time, their fifth straight.

The team made seven of eight free throws in the fourth quarter.

Grant Kinzer scored 16 points for Colton, while Brady Chadwick scored 11 and Peter Schultheis seven.

Garfield/Palouse 64, Oakesdale 40

Matt Holbrook scored a career-high 45 points last Saturday night at Oakesdale to build the Vikings record to 12-2 overall, 6-1 in league.

After scoring 35 points in two games earlier this year, Holbrook set his new mark, shooting 15 of 30 from the field and 11 of 16 free throws.

Holbrook's production made for little other scoring needed. Wyatt Griner led the rest of the team with six points.

Parker Perry led Oakesdale (3-11, 1-7) with 16 points, while Zach Dabolt scored nine.

Colton 55, Oakesdale 50

A 25-point lead dwindled for Colton last Friday at Oakesdale as the Wildcats (4-8, 3-3) made just five of 15 free throws in the fourth quarter.

Colton nonetheless pulled off a five-point win for their fourth-consecutive victory.

Grant Kinzer scored 13 points while Brady Chadwick added 14 and Carter Dahmen 13.

Parker Perry led the Nighthawks with 22 points, while Austin Rutledge and Evan Henning added eight each.

Pomeroy 65, St. John/Endicott 51

Oscar Morfin's 13 points led the Pirates over S.J.E. last Friday, subduing strong scoring from the Eagles' Cooper Lundberg (19 points), Griffin Parrish 15 and Adam Blakeley 13.
