Local merchants and capitalists interested in the effort to secure the agricultural college for Colfax have received no information of much value from Olympia as yet. Whitman's representatives in the legislature write very hopefully about the prospects, however, and will make a hard and strong fight for Colfax. There is some talk about dividing the agricultural college and school of science and giving the former to this city and the latter to Spokane.
