Colton clinched their ninth consecutive Southeast 1B league championship this week as Touchet held steady in second place, the two teams well ahead of the pack. Battling for third are Pomeroy, Liberty Christian, Oakesdale and St. John/Endicott.
The Southeast 1B district tournament will begin Feb. 10 with first-round games played at home gyms followed by championship and second-place games at Walla Walla Community College Feb. 19-20.
Colton 71, Garfield/Palouse 24
Building for another push into March, four players in double figures led the Wildcats at Palouse Tuesday. Zoe Moser and Jordyn Moehrle both scored 15 while Meghan Devorak had 13 and Dakota Patchen had 12. Colton (18-1, 13-0) had already sealed the league title over the weekend.
Colton 80, Pomeroy 30
Clinching a ninth consecutive league championship, Colton beat Pomeroy last Saturday night to earn the top seed in the District Nine tournament.
Leading by 20 at halftime, the Wildcats outscored the Pirates 29-7 in the third quarter.
Meghan Devorak lead the team with 18 points, and Kendyl Druffel and Zoe Moser added 13 points each. MaryAnn Jacobs had nine points with six rebounds, and Rachel Meyer scored eight.
Sydney Smith led Pomeroy with 17 points.
St. John/Endicott 58, Garfield/Palouse 36
Freshman Glory Dickerson scored 18 points, Abby Glorfield had 12 and Jadyn Corder 10 as the Eagles beat Garfield/Palouse last Saturday.
Sophomore Payson Griner led the Vikings with 13 points, while Keely Burnes had 10 and Katie Arrasmith nine.
Touchet 52, Garfield/Palouse 35
Cierra Jo McKeown delivered 26 points and 10 rebounds as the Indians (12-3, 9-2) won at Palouse Jan. 29.
The Vikings (8-8, 4-7) trailed 25-13 at halftime after only scoring one point in the second quarter.
Payson Griner led Garfield/Palouse with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Keely Burnes added eight points.
Colton 68, Liberty Christian 48
Senior Zoe Moser scored 27 points to lead the Wildcats at home last Friday, and Meghan Devorak scored 16 points and Rachel Meyer and Dakota Patchen each scored nine.
Oakesdale 61, Pomeroy 51
Playing at home, Jacey Johnson's 28 points led Oakesdale as the Nighthawks avenged an earlier loss to Pomeroy. The Nighthawks (7-6. 5-6) came back after trailing by nine at halftime. Kacey Halbert led the Pirates (11-6, 6-5) with 17 points.
St. John/Endicott 61, LaCrosse/Washtucna/Kahlotus 16
Gracie Dickerson scored 16 points to lead the Eagles against the host Tigercats (3-14, 1-12) last Friday. Jadyn Corder and Glory Dickerson added 10 points each for S.J.E.
