Total precipitation in January at the Colfax NRCS office was 2.15 inches, according to weather observer David Jones. Average for January at Colfax is 2.33 inches.
Jones reported Thornton received 3.45 inches of precipitation in January and Pullman received 2.55 inches. Those places, he said, were above average.
Despite the slightly below average precipitation, Jones said the outlook for farmers is favorable.
“It does look pretty good,” he said. “Most of the water is going into the ground, and we haven’t had frozen ground.”
The average rainfall for February is 1.94 inches, and so far this month...
