Port of Wilma rail work moving along

Rail work at the Port of Wilma in Clarkston is moving along, Port of Whitman County staffer Kara Riebold reported last week at the Port meeting.

The rail rehabilitation project began in late November with the intention to upgrade crossings at the railroad, replace railroad ties, add new rail and pour asphalt around the crossings. Since then, the work has been moving along but has also faced weather delays.

“Weather didn't allow the asphalt,” Riebold told the Gazette. “As soon as asphalt opens, we can pour the asphalt.”
