Speed will be focus of emphasis patrols

Whitman County Sheriff's Office, Colfax and Pullman Police Departments and the Washington State Patrol will participate in emphasis patrols Feb. 12 which will focus on speeding drivers. The extra patrols are sponsored by the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission. The multi-agency group here is one of 17 traffic control task forces in the state.

During 2014, Washington state logged 159 fatal accidents and 521 serious injury accidents which involved speeding drivers.

The area police agencies decided to schedule the emphasis patrols for next Friday.
