Schweitzers double donation for PRH project

Ed and Beatriz Schweitzer added $350,000 to their gift to help fund the expansion of surgical services and technology upgrades for Pullman Regional Hospital. The announcement was made Feb. 6 at the 10th annual Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation Gala. The addition brings their total donation for the project to $700,000.

The project includes building a fourth operating room suite and upgrading the technology in the three current operating rooms at the hospital.

“Our hospital has served our family and the entire community so well,” said Beatriz. “We are pleased to do our part to support this important resource.”

Hospital CEO Scott Adams credited the Schweitzers with once again helping to ensure the community has better access to the best surgical care.

“I asked Scott how much he needed to build the new surgery suite, he said ‘$340,000,’” said Ed. “So, Beatriz and I looked at each other and decided to double our original gift.”

Rueben Mayes, chief development officer for the foundation, said he continued to be humbled by the generosity of the Schweitzers.

“Here are two leaders who have so many opportunities to invest locally and globally. We are so grateful they choose to help meet the healthcare needs of our community and trust and support Pullman Regional Hospital.”

The $1.75 million project is expected to be completed with new technology installed and the fourth operating room fully functional by next spring.
