Klezmer music

set for Dahmen

Gefilte Trout will perform European klezmer music Feb. 20 at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown. They will perform songs sung in Yiddish, Hebrew and Ladino, the language of the Jewish people of Spain, and tell the stories behind them.

Traditional desserts will be served with coffee and tea, and wine and beer will be available to purchase

Founded in 2005, Gefilte Trout grew out of the band Dancing Trout which played American old time fiddle music for dances.

Members from Moscow and from Pullman include Mary Donohoe, vocals and percussion; Carla Chandler, violin; Bill Voxman, clarinet; Greg Donohoe, upright bass; Bill Thompson, guitar and Bill Thomson, mandolin.

CLUBS & YOUTH GROUPS

Chapter AF members met Jan. 25 at Peace Lutheran Church with Queenie Leinweber as hostess. Dorothy Feldman, co-hostess, presented the program on Founders' Day. Krista Boyd was welcomed as a new member.

The chapter met Feb. 8 at the home of Marsha Binder, hostess. Sixteen members responded to roll call by giving their favorite color that reminds them of spring.

The by-laws committee reviewed proposed changes to be made. A vote was taken as to the amount of the scholarship award for a graduating senior girl. A fifth Monday out was discussed for Feb. 29, with a meeting set for the Daily Grind at 6 p.m.

The next meeting Feb. 22 will be at the home of Arlene Hatley. Ann Marra will give the program.

Athenaeum

Athenaeum club, which was hosted by Carole Ensley, met Feb. 5 at the First Baptist Church with 21 members present. Mary Ann Mitchell gave information on resources to learn history of the area. Sharon Baum presented a humorous article, "1950's Wife Guide." The next meeting will be Feb. 19 at Hill-Ray at 1 p.m. Hostess will be Marcia Tempel with presentations being given by Linda Marler (Education 1945 - 1955) and Judy Moore (Rock 'n Roll 1950s). The March 4 meeting will be held at the Methodist church.

Gravel, Andrew Landon, born Feb. 11 at six pounds, 11 ounces, to Bryce and Stacy Gravel, Pullman. Paternal grandparents are Pat and Debbie Gravel, Auburn, Wash. Maternal grandparents are Randy and Camille Lyver, Kent, Wash. Baby joins sisters Millie, 5 and Whitney, 4.

McDaniel, Chloe Jean, born Feb. 11 at eight pounds, five ounces, to Thiry McDaniel, Garfield, and Jaheen McCutchen, Moscow. Paternal grandparent is Cheryl McCutchen, Clifton, NJ. Maternal grandparents are Mike and Gerri Nodine, Garfield, and Pete McDaniel, Waldport, Ore. Baby joins brother Jayson, 6.

Lowley, Colter Raymond, born Feb. 13 at seven pounds, 11 ounces, to Anthony and Ruth Lowley, Garfield. Paternal grandparents are Raymond Lowley, Post Falls, Idaho, and Brian and Diana Oliver, Farmington. Maternal grandparents are Rudy and Marcella Goossen, Farmington, and Charles Haynes, Plummer, Idaho.

At Spokane

Johnson, Miles Jeremiah, born Feb. 4 at seven pounds, 10 ounces, to Jeremiah and Heather Johnson, Spokane Valley. Grandparents are Jeff and Judy Sitton, St. John, Randall Johnson, Davenport, and Ken and Renee Harrison, Spokane. Baby joins brothers Jaymason, Blake and Clayton.
