Lloyd Stoess of The Palouse Falls Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute will provide another talk on the the Geomorphology of the Channeled Scablands March 1 at 6 p.m. at the Mid-Columbia Library in Connell. Stoess, a lifetime resident of Washtucna, is the president of the newly-formed Palouse Falls Chapter and a member of LaCrosse Community Pride.
He previously gave the lecture in LaCrosse, Washtucna and Ritzville in January with more than 50 attendees combined from the three meetings.
“It's doing pretty good,” said Michelle Plumb, Palouse Falls Chapter publicity chair.
Plumb said the librarian in Connell contacted the chapter and asked for the lecture to be presented there. The library is located at 118 N. Columbia in Connell.
The Ice Age chapter will also participate in its annual hike next weekend, March 5. Participants will hike the Lower Palouse Canyon from Lyons Ferry Fish Hatchery to Palouse Falls. The event is co-sponsored by the Palouse Falls Chapter and the Cheney-Spokane Chapter, which previously hosted the event prior to the formation of the Palouse Falls Chapter last fall.
Stoess will lead that hike along with Gene Kiver of the Cheney-Spokane Chapter. Registration for the hike is available at iafi.org.
