Hospital District undergoes name change

Whitman County Public Hospital District No. 2 is now known as Garfield-Farmington Health District in a name change to clarify what area of the county it serves.

The change grew out of a levy lid lift last November for the district.

“We had had several people tell us they were confused by the ballot,” said Tammy Howard, business manager for the district, indicating voters weren't sure if the No. 2 district affected them.

The Hospital Board of Commissioners voted on the change Feb. 2.
