Bond set in Pullman accident case

A $10,000 bail sum was set for pre-trial release of Darin Magnuson, 52, Coeur d’Alene, who was booked into jail March 16 after being brought here from Kootenai County. His arrest relates to a vehicle accident last Aug. 12 in downtown Pullman.

A warrant had been issued for Magnuson’s arrest after he failed to appear in court Jan. 22 and show cause why he failed to respond to a summons to be in court Dec. 18. A charge of driving under the influence was filed against him Dec. 1. He was arrested Feb. 25 in Kootenai County, and Whitman deputies brought him here.

According to the report, Magnuson was arrested in Pullman after he drove a Jeep into the curb behind Keasal’s Chevron Station. The report said police were advised Magnuson had attempted to purchase beer at the station and appeared to be intoxicated. Both tires on the passenger side of the white Jeep went flat after it hit the curb.

The driving-under-the-influence charge against Magnuson, filed in superior court, includes a “refusal” allegation. The report said after his arrest Magnuson refused to undergo a breathalyzer test to determine blood alcohol content. A warrant was subsequently obtained from district court by Pullman Police to draw a blood sample to determine content at the Pullman Police station where Magnuson had been questioned.

The charge filed against Magnuson alleges results from analysis of blood drawn under the district court warrant indicated he had a blood alcohol content in excess of the legal limit of .08 percent. Records in the case indicate Magnuson was believed to be a resident of Potlatch at the time of his arrest.
