Sarah McKnight of Colfax has been hired as the Whitman County managing director for Southeast Washington Economic Development Association beginning in March.
As part of her work, McKnight serves on the Palouse Knowledge Corridor Board of Directors and is involved with the Colfax Downtown Association, Scenic Byways Committee and the Colfax Economic Development, Tourism and Events Commission.
A Whitman County native, she graduated from WSU in 2004 with a degree in education.
She worked for the Endicott school and most recently was with the Whitman County Library system. She has experience as a business manager in Colfax.
As the SEWEDA Whitman County Managing Director, she will also lead the Startup Whitman Program, geared to servicing the needs of startup businesses. The position acts as an umbrella resource in the county, tying together business development and retention, expansion plans, recruitment and marketing.
Startup Whitman was developed by the Washington State Department of Commerce Office of Economic Development and Competitiveness. Startup Whitman events are at 540 E. Main St. Pullman, at Crimson Commerce Club, the former armory. The schedule of monthly events consists of Office Hours, The Expert Is In, Cup O’ Joe, Entrepreneurship Assistance and Fund Local with additional programs to be added in the near future.
The Southeast Washington Economic Development Association office is currently located at 126 S. Grand in Pullman.
