Colfax girls roll up big win in track opener

Colfax girls rolled up 137 points to win team honors Saturday in their first meet, the Central Idaho Invitational at Lapwai. They finished 34 points ahead of the number-two team, Coeur d'Alene Charter.

The Bulldog girls won nine of the events in the opener with senior Scout Cai pegging wins in the high jump, pole vault and shotput. Olivia Mellor took wins in the long jump and triple jump and was part of a win posted by the Colfax 400 meter relay team.

Carmen Gfeller posted wins in both hurdles events, and Alexie Smith and Rachel Brown finished 1-2 in the javelin.

Colfax boys team placed sixth with 48 points, behind the 86 win posted by Troy, Idaho. Lone win for the Bulldog boys was in the 400 X 100 relay with Riley Griffiths, Ben Ahmann, Cody Fulfs and Toby Warwick.

Adam Blakeley of St. John/Endicott won the long jump with a leap of 19-9.5 The Eagle boys finished with 36 points for ninth place, and the girls finished with 12 for 13th. LaCrosse/Washtucna/ Kahlotus girls finished with 13 to finish one notch ahead of the Eagles.
