Cai pegs 12-0 pole vault to set Ephrata record

Senior Scout Cai cleared 12 feet in the pole vault at the Ray Cross Invitational track meet at Ephrata to lead the Colfax run of 46 points to placefifth overall in the giant mid-state meet. The 12'0'' in the vault was good for a one-foot edge over the number-two entrant, Heather Carbon of Moses Lake.

The 12 also set a record for the Ray Cross meet which had 37 teams this year, and it set a CHS record. Cai's previous best was 11'6''.

Coach Jason Cooper said Cai probably could have cleared 12'3'' Saturday, but the team needs to get her a longer pole.

Scout Cai also placed second in the 200 sprint with a 26.76 behind the 26.16 win by Olivia Holmes of A.C. Davis, and she placed fifth in the shot put at 33-7. She also placed fifth in the shot put for a total of 32 team points for the Bulldogs.
