Weitz hits 36 in wind to top St. John meet

Colfax junior Chance Weitze of Colfax carded a one-over-par 36 to lead a field of 37 golfers from seven teams at the St. John course last Thursday.

Colfax coach Steve Jones noted Weitze's score was a big accomplishment because the golfers were playing in winds of up to 25 mph and some rain.

Weitze hit on the par three second hole using a four iron on a shot which normally requires an eight iron.

Kylie Gronning of Colfax also claimed medalist honors with a 51 on the girls' side. Michelle Tee of Tekoa/Rosalia had the number-two score for the girls with a 54.
