Emma Perry of Oakesdale clears the high jump for the Nighthawks. Perry placed third in the event with a 5-0 leap.
Oakesdale girls Friday rolled up 49 points to finish fifth among 24 teams in the Deer Park Invitational meet. Freeman took the girls side of the meet with 88 points, and the Nighthawks finished just behind St. George's which finished out with 52 points.
Oakesdale was the only 1B division team among the top 10, and St. George's was the lone 2B team.
Oakesdale boys finished with an 11.12 to place 17th behind Deer Park which took their own meet with 90 points.
Nighthawk sophomore Annie Hockett continued a strong campaign with a win in the 300 hurdles at 48.31 and placed second in the the 100 hurdles with a 17.57 behind the blistering 16.44 win booked by Maggie Cobb of Chewelah.
Emma Perry placed eighth in the 200 with a 28.53. Perry also placed third in the high jump at 5-0.
Oakesdale's 4 X 200 team placed fourth with Kaela Fisch, Amber Jones, Logan Reed and Perry clocking a 1:56.5 behind the 1:51.1 win by the Deer Park girls.
Katie Holbrook of Garfield/Palouse placed fifth in the 3200 with a 12:56.
Cameron Springstead place 10th for GP in the 200 at 25-2.
Parker Perry of the Nighthawk boys placed fifth in the high jump as one of three competitors who cleared 6-0 behind the 6-5 win by Casey Hamilton of Kettle Falls. Perry was 14th in the javelin at 122-11.
Tanner Dingman placed sixth in the long jump at 19-2.75 and fifth in the triple at 38-9.25.
The finish for Oakesdale girls at Deer Park follows a strong second-place finish posted at the District 9 opener March 24 at Lapwai when they cooked 124.5 points behind the 156.5 rolled up for the team win by Asotin. Emma Perry and Anne Hockett rolled a string of wins in the 200, 400 and 800. Hockett took both hurdle events to finish the day with four wins.
