Rain again delays Bulldog baseball action

The Colfax baseball team, which moved its record to 6-0 by taking a double win over Kettle Falls after water on the field led to a one-day delay, sustained another water delay this Tuesday when they were slated to host Liberty. The Lancers game was moved back to Wednesday after water Monday took a toll on the McDonald Park turf.

After Wednesday, the Bulldogs are booked for three road games with the first stop set Saturday against the LRS Broncos at Ritzville.

Colfax March 30 moved their NE string to 6-0 with two big wins over Kettle at McDonald Park. The host Bulldogs topped the Kettle Falls team 11-1 in the first game with a six-run outbreak in the bottom of the fourth inning. The blowout opened up a close game by the two clubs over the first three frames.

Colfax finished with 11 hits in the ball game. Colfax pitcher Danny Robinson held the Kettle team to three hits. He struck out 11 batters. Robinson, Cal Gregory, Logan Gingerich and Parker Huber each had two of the 11 Colfax hits in the first game.

The Bulldogs finished with a 15-0 win in the second game which shut down after five innings. Colfax actually hit the 10-run margin with their first score in the bottom of the third inning. They added three more runs in the third for a 13-0 lead. Kettle starter Travis Thompson was pulled in that third frame.

Colfax totaled 12 hits with Robinson rapping a homer to highlight a six-run start for the hosts in the first inning of the second game.

Senior hurler Dustyn Hall allowed one hit in the first four innings, and Keith Gfeller closed the game by striking out three of the four batters he faced in the top of the fifth inning.

Jordan Clendenen, who started on the mound for Kettle in the first game, had the lone hit by the K club in the second game.
