S.J.E.L. Eagles baseball starts season 2-4

He has returning seniors, girls, eighth-graders and a kid from LaCrosse on the roster.

Is there anything else St. John/Endicott baseball coach Kyle Schultheis could need?

“We could use some wins,” he said.

The Eagles are off to a 2-4 start after a doubleheader loss at Odessa/Harrington Tuesday.

The team has five starters from last year, including Tyler Anderson, who takes over as No. 1 pitcher this spring. LaCrosse senior Eric Harder is back in the outfield, junior Terrell Webb at pitcher and infield, junior Reagan Harrison at catcher and Wyatt Wilson at first base, another junior.

The rest of the 12-player roster is new, including two girls.

At second base is freshman Glory Dickerson while Cydney Selk, another freshman, plays right field.

Eighth-grader T.J. Harder plays third base.

Rounding out the lineup is sophomore Bailey Hartman in left field.

The team's two wins came against the Liberty J.V., followed by a doubleheader loss to Touchet, 12-0 and 16-1.

Leading at the plate for St. John/Endicott/LaCrosse is Eric Harder, batting .380. Other top hitters are Anderson and Webb.

Playing at Odessa Tuesday, the team managed just three hits per game, a 15-5 loss and an 18-3 loss.

“Terrell Webb pitched really well in long relief,” said Coach Schultheis, who is still looking to name his No. 2 pitcher.

The team will play next at Dayton Tuesday for a non-league game.
