Colfax fire department sees staffing changes

Colfax Fire Department is expected to undergo changes in operations over the coming months with the aim of improving the department in the wake of a drop in the city’s fire rating.

Mayor Todd Vanek, who called a short executive session during the April 5 city council meeting, confirmed Friday that Carl Thompson, fire department administrator, had been dismissed last month from his position. Vanek said he took the action because he believed administration of the department was not being accomplished and that was one of the reasons for the city’s drop in ratings.
