Colfax bolts to 12-0

Senior Keith Gfeller pitched the win for the Bulldogs Saturday in the first game at Ritzville.

Colfax baseball players put down a barrage of hits Tuesday at Springdale for two more big wins to remain undefeated in the NE League race. After taking the opener 12-6, the Bulldogs capped the day with a 22-0 blast in the second game with Dustyn Hall and Cal Gregory teaming to throwing a no-hitter at the Chargers.

Bulldog batters rolled out 16 hits in the first game and 17 in the second game.

The sweep at Springdale followed a sweep Saturday at Ritzville and sweep at home against Liberty April 6 in a one-day rain delay.

Danny Robinson, who pitched the win for Colfax Tuesday in the first game, led the Colfax hitting attack with a seven-for-nine day at the plate. Robinson in the first game helped nail his own win with three hits, including a double and triple. He then cracked two homers and two doubles in the second game which lasted just five innings.

Catcher Cal Gregory finished six-for-nine and booked a total of seven RBIs.

In the shutout game, Hall struck out eight Chargers over the first four innings, and Gregory came out from the catcher slot and threw two strikeouts in the fifth and final inning of the day.

Saturday at Ritzville, coach Mike Parrish started Gfeller, who has worked strong relief innings, in the opener against the Broncos. The Colfax senior threw a 4-0 shutout and allowed the Broncos five hits in taking the win.

Colfax moved their record to 10-0 by pegging a 9-1 win in the second game. Colfax had just six hits in the first game, but managed to score three runs in the first two innings and added their last run in the fifth. Robinson and Hall each added a double in the first game.

For the closer at Ritzville Saturday, Parker Huber went to the mound and pitched into the seventh inning when he was relieved by Gregory.

Ritzville tagged seven hits in the second game, but moved just one runner across the plate.

Robinson rapped another three-run homer in the first inning to get Colfax started.

The Broncos had three errors in the second game.

In a rain delay double Wednesday, April 6, the Bulldogs dropped Liberty twice at McDonald Park.

The Bulldogs blanked the Lancers 7-0 in the opener with Robinson throwing a two-hitter. In the second game, Colfax pegged a 15-1 win with Hall throwing a one-hit game.

Robinson struck out eight Lancers and walked just two in the opener.

Hall struck out seven and allowed just two walks in the second game which was closed down after five innings. The Bulldogs bumped their lead above the 10-run mark with a 12-run outbreak in the third inning.

Colfax offense hammered 25 hits in the two games. Gregory and Logan Gingerich each booked three hits in the first game, and Hunter Mosebar had two hits with a double.

Gregory added three hits in the second game, and Robinson and Kyle Appel each had two. Both of Robinson’s hits went for doubles.
