Colfax freshman Bennett Gray carded an 81 Tuesday in the second lap of the district golf qualifications at Meadowwood to finish second overall. Gray logged a 161 combo score to finish back of medalist Palmer Guhlke of
Davenport who hit a 73, one under his first round score, and finished at 147 for the two laps.
Guhlke and Gray lead a field of 11 qualifiers who will be in the the state round.
Dawson Strobel, Tekoa/Rosalia, finished third with a 166, and Augie Allenbach of Colfax, finished fourth at 169.
Chance Weitze qualified for state with a 174 to finish seventh.
The three Colfax qualifiers in the top 11 again netted Colfax a team win with a team score of 41.5, a huge edge over number-two Wilbur Creston at 17.
Other scores for Colfax; A.J. Miller 200, Cody Muir 217 and Brian DeYoung 220.
James Heer of Tekoa/Rosalia carded a 210.
McKenna Davis qualified sixth on the girls side at 182 behind medalist Kaysa Panke of Davenport (171).
Michaela Tee of Tekoa/Rosalia carded a 228 combo score, and Sarah Pugh of Colfax carded a 230.
