Trump, Sanders top county in 27 percent primary vote

Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders tallied wins in Whitman County’s count for the state’s presidential primary.

Trump, the lone remaining Republican candidate, took 69 percent of the vote as of the first ballot count, while previous opponents Ted Cruz, John Kasich and Ben Carson, all of whom have suspended their campaigns, garnered 28 percent collectively and write-in candidates accounted for three percent of the vote.
