Summer is just around the corner, and so are the openings of pools throughout the county. The Palouse Pool, as well as the Tekoa Municipal Pool, Rosalia Pool, Colfax Swimming Pool and Reaney Park Pool are all almost ready to open.
Tekoa MUNICIPAL POOL
The opening day of the Tekoa Municipal Pool and Reaney Park Pool is June 10. Tekoa opens at 1:00 p.m., and will be open Monday thru Saturday, 1-6 p.m
The family pass for the Tekoa Pool is $70, individual pass for the entire summer is $40 and the daily fee is $2.
For the Tekoa Municipal Pool, swim lessons are $25 per child and $30 per swimmer for the swim team. If interested, there is an aerobics punch card that is $20 for 12 punches.
For the Tekoa Pool, swim lessons begin for session one on July 11 to 22, and second session begins Aug. 1 to 12. Water aerobics begin July 5 and are every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7 p.m.
Palouse POOL
The opening day of Palouse Pool is Saturday, June 18. The daily schedule for the summer, Monday thru Friday, will include swim lessons (Monday thru Thursday), from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m., open swim from 12-4:30 p.m., lap swim and water aerobics 5-6 p.m., family swim 6-7 p.m. and night swim 7-8 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday open swim begins at 12-4 p.m., lap swim 5-6 p.m., family swim 6-7 p.m. and night swim 7-8 p.m.
Private pool rentals at the Palouse Pool are also available this summer, but must be reserved and paid through city hall. Each rental is for an hour-and-a-half, hours being between 8-9:30 p.m., and lifeguards are provided. The cost to rent the pool is $75 plus tax, and there is a 40 guest maximum limit. Guests include everyone present within the facility.
The Palouse Pool may also be closed if the air temperature is below 62 degrees, if there are dangerous weather conditions or if the pool is contaminated (closures for contamination last for the entire duration of cleanup time plus one hour).
In order to sign up for swim lessons at the Palouse Pool, visit City Hall, 120 E. Main Street, to register and pay or call 509-878-1811. Group lessons cost $25 for students who live within city limits, but cost is $35 for students residing outside of city limits. Each session is Monday thru Thursday and will last two weeks. Weather cancellations will be decided on Fridays if possible. Classes begin on the half-hour, between 10:30 a.m., and noon. Every student must be at least four years old on the first day of classes.
The first session of classes for Palouse Pool is July 5 to 14 (the first week is Tuesday thru Friday and the second week is Monday thru Thursday). The second session is July 18 to 28. Private lessons throughout the summer are $15 for 30 minutes if the student lives within city limits or is $20 for 30 minutes if they live outside of city limits. Private lessons are also based on instructor availability and must be arranged through the pool manager.
Colfax SWIMMING POOL
The Colfax Swimming Pool will tentatively be open on the last day of school, June 10. Work to paint the pool has not yet started. When the pool does open, it will be open Monday thru Saturday.
Open swim is from 1-4 p.m., adult lap swim from 5-6 p.m. and open swim again from 6-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday there are midnight swims from 8:30-11:30 p.m. and Sunday hours will be 1-4 p.m.
REANEY PARK POOL
Reaney Park Pool is open Monday thru Friday from 1-6 p.m.
For Reaney Park, the day pass for 4 to 17-year-olds and senior adults is $3.75, 18 years and older is $5.00 and the household pass for the day is $13.75. A season pass is $50 for f to 17-year-olds and senior adults, $75 for 18 years and older and $150 per household. Three year-old and younger are free with an adult for the entire summer.
Rosalia POOL
The Rosalia Pool is set to be open for Battle Days on Saturday, June 4, from 1-5 p.m. Official opening for the summer is June 10 at 2 p.m. Pool hours will be Monday thru Saturday 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 1-5 p.m. Adult swims are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6-7 p.m. Activities offered include swim school as well as open and recreational swim, with spring diving board, kick boards and a water slide. It is $1 per session to swim in the heated outdoor pool.
