Democrats to gather in Tacoma

The Washington State Democratic Party will hold its state convention this weekend at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center. The two-day convention June 18-19 will bring together 1,400 delegates from the state's 39 counties to pass a party platform and choose Presidential Electors.

On Sunday, 34 national delegates and eight alternates will be named for the Democratic National Convention. The state will send 118 delegates plus eight alternates to the convention, which is July 25-28 in Philadelphia.

Whitman County will send six delegates and three alternates for Bernie Sanders and one delegate and one alternate for Hillary Clinton to the convention this weekend.
