Sanctuary Yoga: Cats to the Mat event

Gazette intern reporter

Cats to the Mat is returning for its second annual event, with Sanctuary Yoga and the Whitman County Humane Society, Saturday, June 18. The event entails a relaxing, non-hot 90-minute yin/restorative yoga session with instructor Andrea Perkins and adoptable cats from the WCHS.

“This event was such a success last time, and it is kitten season!” said Judy Kolde, owner of Sanctuary. “The Whitman County Humane Society will be bringing well-socialized cats to the event. It was so cute last year and we wanted to see it happen again.”

Sanctuary will be collecting donations for much needed supplies up until the day of the event. The WCHS wish list is posted online on Sanctuary's Facebook page or can also be seen in the lobby of Sanctuary Yoga. Monetary donations are also accepted, with all proceeds going directly to WCHS.

“It was so much fun, although we had a low population of cats last time, but so sweet to see the two cats cuddle up and really enjoy their time,” said Audrey Voesch with WCHS. “It's a fun way for the community to remember our organization, and we really appreciate working with Sanctuary for this event and allowing us to fund-raise for the animals in need.”

Registration must be ahead of time at Sanctuary Yoga, due to a limited number of spots. For more information, visit Sanctuary's Facebook page.
