Reta E. Anderson
A graveside service for Reta E. Anderson, 91, was Monday morning at the Rock Creek Cemetery with Pastor Larry Vieth officiating. Reta died June 6, 2016, at Bishop Place assisted living in Pullman.
Born on July 24, 1924, in Viola, Idaho, to Willis and Blanche (Culton) Estes, she attended Palouse schools and graduated from the Palouse High School with the class of 1942.
She married James W. Anderson Sept. 6, 1942, in Viola, and they made their home in Potlatch, Idaho, where they farmed and raised cattle. Mr. Anderson died in 1994.
She continued to live on the farm until she moved to Bishop Place in Pullman.
Reta was a member of the Potlatch Community Presbyterian Church and was awarded honorary life membership in Presbyterian Women. She also received a certificate of appreciation for outstanding and dedicated service from the Potlatch Lions Club. Reta enjoyed playing the piano and taught Sunday school at the Potlatch Presbyterian Church for many years.
Survivors include one son, Gary Anderson (Salie), Potlatch, Idaho; one daughter, Bonnie Foster (Milton), Concrete; a half brother, Vern Donahue, Viola; a sister-in-law, Beverly Anderson, Viola, and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Potlatch Fire and Ambulance fund, Box 63, Potlatch, or to the Potlatch Food Pantry, Box 453, Potlatch, Idaho, 83855.
Darlene C. Brantner
A private urn burial service for Darlene C. Brantner, 75, long-time resident of Palouse, was June 8 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse with the Rev. Paul Barber officiating. Mrs. Brantner died from cancer Friday June 3, 2016, at Aspen Park in Moscow, Idaho.
Born Oct. 29, 1940, in Potlatch, Idaho, to Frederick and Hester Ekman Kreid, she attended Potlatch schools and graduated from the Potlatch High School in 1958.
She married Swartz Brantner Jan. 16, 1960, and the couple made their home in Palouse. She worked at the Washington State University accounting office room from 1959 to 1972 and at the Palouse schools as a teacher’s aide for five years. She enjoyed raising flowers and traveling.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Swartz Brantner, at the family home, one son, Wade Brantner (Pam), Palouse; two daughters, Shelley Burt (Mike), Palouse; Kaylynn Palmer (Brad), Potlatch; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dolores M. Hanson
A memorial service for Dolores M. Hanson, 87, was Wednesday, at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse. Mrs. Hanson died June 11, 2016, at Whitman Health & Rehab in Colfax, Wash.
Born Jan. 22, 1929, at Portland, to Lloyd L. and Marie M. (Rosencrans) Arnett, she attended schools in Portland and graduated from Franklin High School in Portland in 1947.
She married Robert DeLashmutt June 20, 1948, and the couple was later divorced. She married Dale Hanson June 5, 1964, and the couple moved to Garfield in 1964, where they had made their home since. Mr. Hanson died in 2009.
She worked as a secretary for a telephone company in Eugene, Ore., for several years. She also worked for the Hyster Company, which made machinery and forklifts. She also worked as a waitress at the Wheel Inn at Steptoe and at Cher’s Restaurant in Garfield for several years.
She loved to work in her flower and vegetable garden.
She later moved to Ladow Court assisted living in Garfield, and later to the Whitman Health and Rehab center in Colfax where she has made her home for the past four years.
Survivors include one son, Keith DeLashmutt (Billi), Beaver, Ore .; three daughters, Lynn M. Hanson (Les) Lincoln, Calif., Cheryl Sommers (Ron) LaQuinta, Calif. and Carla Hanson, Edgewood, Wash., and one sister, Beverly Pfouts, Olympia; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Ariel M. O'Reilly
A graveside memorial service for Ariel M. O’Reilly, 94, will be Friday, June 17, 11 a.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse with the Rev. Corey Laughary officiating. She died Nov. 20, 2015, at her home at Bishop Place in Pullman.
Born on Aug. 27, 1921, in Palouse to Cloyd and Arminta (Howard) Boone, she attended Palouse schools and graduated from the Palouse High School in 1938. She married LeRoy Foster Oct. 3, 1938, in Colfax and the couple made their home in Princeton, Idaho. Mr. Foster died in December of 1970, and she married Richard O’Reilly in 1981. They were later divorced.
Ariel later moved to Moscow, Idaho, and lived at the Good Samaritan retirement apartments and then moved to the Bishop Place Independent Apartments in Pullman in 2013.
She had a vast antique collection and enjoyed her flower garden and playing cards.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Potlatch, Idaho, Rebekah Lodge, Potlatch Post, Ladies Aide, Harvard Ladies Club.
Survivors include one son, Robert Foster (Mairi), Sun City West, Ariz .; one sister, Betty Burden, Palouse; two grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Foster, one granddaughter, Pixie Foster, two grandsons, Timothy Foster and Tony Foster.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Box 2472, Spokane, Wash. 99210-2472.
