Robert A. Larson
A memorial service for Robert A. Larsen, 89, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at the Elmore United Methodist Church north of Potlatch, Idaho. The Rev. Kathy Lee Kramer will officiate. A private family inurnment service will be at Freeze Cemetery. Mr. Larsen, a retired Potlatch-area farmer, died Saturday, June 25, at his Potlatch home.
Born Jan. 17, 1927, in Nebraska, to Oscar and Sigrid (Berg) Larsen, he moved with his family to Palouse when he was 13 and graduated from high school with the Palouse High School class in 1944.
He served in the United States Navy for one year at the end of World War II.
He and Dorothy Pearson were married in 1951, and they made their home near Harvard, Idaho, where he farmed. She died in 1983. He married Jean Klinkefus June 11, 1983, in Spokane, and they continued to farm near Harvard. Following his retirement in 1990, they sold the farm and moved to Potlatch.
His hobbies included fishing, camping and going to yard sales. He attended the Elmore United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Jean, at the family home; his children, Carolann Rogers of San Diego, Calif., and Wayne Larsen of Post Falls, Idaho; step-children Catherine Nowack of Potlatch, Idaho, Allan Klinkefus of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Susan Renz of Onaway, Idaho, and William Klinkefus of Athol, Idaho; 19 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Earl Larsen of Kennewick and Arlan Larsen of Alberta, Canada and Yuma, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by a son, Allyn Larsen.
Memorial gifts may be given to Elmore United Methodist Church Camp Scholarship Fund.
Janice C. Meyer
A funeral mass for Janice C. Meyer, 74, Uniontown, was Monday at St. Boniface Church, followed by a graveside service. A luncheon served by the Altar Society followed in the Uniontown Community Building.
The rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Boniface Church.
Mrs. Meyer, 74, died Monday, June 20, 2016, at her home in Uniontown after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She will be remembered for her quiet and patient disposition and unending love for family and friends.
Born Aug. 25, 1941, in Seattle to Claude and Margaret Sprowl Johns, she moved with her family to Okanogan at age three and graduated from Okanogan High School with the class of 1959.
She met Edward Florent Meyer in an art class while attending Eastern Washington University, and they were married Nov. 10, 1962. They stayed busy raising their four children and establishing a family farm outside of Uniontown.
She embraced working outdoors. Mowing and watering the lawn, planting expansive gardens and landscaping were among activities. Beautiful petunias adorned the farm and became her trademark. The family's German Shepard followed behind the riding lawnmower lap after lap around the yard. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. Her hobbies varied from year to year but included crocheting, cross-stitching, sewing, genealogy, floral arranging and reading. She spent many years of active service in Catholic Daughters, Altar Society and Hospice.
Surviving are her husband, Ed; four children Brad (Roylyn), Lei (Dave) Strottmann, Michelle (Rob) Stanton, and Curt; one brother, Barry (Tina) Johns; one sister, Sheila Kennedy; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
