Crew members of Palouse River Rock work begin work on storm drains Tuesday at the Colfax High School athletic complex. Construction began on the new track Monday.
Todd Grimes of Beynon Sports Surfaces, lead contractor on the Colfax track, estimates the project will be finished in mid-October.
Construction began Monday on the new Colfax school district track.
After last week's surveying, staking and location of utilities – which followed stripping of the old track by a Colfax city crew – workers from Palouse River Rock began Monday on the civil phase of the estimated two-month project.
A pre-construction meeting was held at the track June 30.
On Tuesday morning, a Porta Potty was delivered to the site as the Palouse River Rock crew worked on installing new storm drains.
Following the track subgrade will be the fine grade phase and compact base. Phase four is the asphalt finish followed by track surfacing. The sixth and final phase is striping and marking.
“In between, there may be periods of no activity due to time for curing,” said Todd Grimes, lead contractor on the project.
Grimes, of Beynon Sports Surfaces, comes to Colfax from Tualatin, Ore.
