Port signs letters for rail projects

The Port of Whitman County Thursday, June 7, voted unanimously to sign letters of support for two local rail projects which are seeking funds from the Freight Rail Assistance Program (FRAP).

The letters will go to W&I Railway, based in Rosalia, and the William Group, based in Kansas City, Mo. Both letters are for projects on the Washington Idaho Railway (WIR), the lease operator of the Palouse and Lewiston (P&L) branch line. The group is seeking to complete two rail projects, the first being done under the William Group and the second being done under W&I Railway.
