Pay increases for Whitman County elected officials were set Monday during a meeting of the county’s special commission to set salaries of elected officials. The commission allowed monthly pay hikes as a cost of living adjustment. The pay increases will start next year.
Sheriff Brett Myers, who at an earlier commission session pointed out the increased insurance premiums he has been required to pay, received the largest raise, a $531 hike from $7,176 per month to $7,707 next year.
The county assessor, auditor, clerk and treasurer will each receive a $221 increase from $5,595 to $5,816, and the county coroner received a $115 hike from $5,781 to $5,896. Pay for commissioners will be hiked $111 from $5,592 to $5,703.
The county prosecutor’s pay, which is paid through county and state funds, was set at $11,546 for next year. The county’s portion of the prosecutor’s pay is now $4,544. Amount of the increase was not indicated on the report issued by the auditor’s office.
