State Legion cites Sgt. Jake Opgenorth

Washington American Legion presented Pullman Police Sgt. Jake Opgenorth the Law Officer of the Year award at its annual meeting in Grand Mound, Wash., July 15. The Pullman Maynard-Price American Legion Post 52 previously presented Opgenorth with the local award in February. Sgt. Opgenorth was selected for statewide recognition among all awards submitted throughout the state. He was was recognized for his leadership. As the detective supervisor, Sgt. Opgenorth is responsible for direction and oversight of all major criminal investigations. Last year led to a challenging and high profile cases, including a homicide and arson, according to Pullman Police Chief Gary Jenkins.
