SEL acquires Colombian firm

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories announced Thursday an expansion to the company after acquiring Sienco Energy Partners, an engineering firm founded in 2008 and based in Bogota, Colombia.

Sienco has been a long-time customer of SEL and plans to transition its operations and employees to SEL during the next six months.

Julian Alzate, director of international operations at SEL, said the process to expand SEL’s base in Latin America began about a year ago and included looking at four different companies for potential acquisition. Ultimately, Sienco was chosen.
