Serving Whitman County since 1877
The Colfax Chamber of Commerce will host an appreciation garden party for the Thrifty Grandmothers Aug. 18 and is seeking table sponsors. The garden party will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the Perkins House lawn. A table can be sponsored for $80, which covers a table for four grandmothers, or donors can choose to sponsor individual grandmothers for $20.
"We usually do a nice luncheon just to thank them for everything they do for Whitman County," said Valoree Gregory, Colfax unified executive director. "They give so much money. It's crazy how many things they do for not just Colfax, but Whitman County, too."
Gregory said the luncheon last year had about 35 of the grandmothers attend.
“Most of the time, almost all of the grandmothers come,” she said.
Local businesses and individuals who wish to sponsor a grandmother or a table now have the option to pay online. This option has not been available in the past.
The sponsored funds will go toward table decorations and food for the luncheon, and any leftover funds will stay in the Thrifty Grandmother's line item to help toward next year's luncheon, Gregory said.
