Serving Whitman County since 1877
The SEWEDA office has moved from Pullman to Colfax to better meet the needs of the county. Sarah McKnight, Whitman County managing director, now maintains a second story office in the Warwick Building on Main Street in Colfax.
The Southeast Washington Economic Development Association has moved its office from Pullman to Colfax. The new location is on the second floor of the Warwick Building at 409 N. Main Street across the street from the Whitman County Courthouse. SEWEDA has a sign on the Warwick Building plot by the street as well as in the upstairs window.
“A lot more people from Colfax and the surrounding areas will notice it as they drive through because I've got some good signage,” said Sarah McKnight, SEWEDA Whitman County managing director.
The move became official last week, and McKnight will now maintain the Colfax office and the office in Pullman. The office in Pullman is located in the old armory building across the street from the Bell Tower at 540 E. Main Street, and it will be open by appointment only. It will also be open on the third Wednesday of each month from 9 to 11 a.m. for office hours. McKnight said she brings in an expert for office hours to help clients. She will also be in Pullman on the first Wednesday of every month for Cup O' Joe, which is from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at the Pullman location. At most other times, she will be in Colfax.
“If the open sign is on, I'm in there,” McKnight said of the light up open sign in the second story window of the Warwick Building. “I'm not over in Pullman unless I have something going on there.”
McKnight said she hopes the move to Colfax can help SEWEDA to be better positioned to serve the entire county.
“We're just trying to spread SEWEDA all over the county,” she said. “We wanted to be accessible.”
