County, Corps working on Wawawai lease renewal

Whitman County commissioners Monday authorized Parks Director Tim Myers to begin the process of negotiating a new lease with the Army Corps of Engineers for Wawawai County Park.

“What they're asking for is authorization to pursue a new lease for Wawawai for the county,” Myers told the commissioners.

Myers said this process will involve evaluating and possibly changing some restrictions in the lease agreement, such as for spraying pesticides and seeing what things within the lease agreement the county may be able to take on.
