Tractor suspected of igniting Green Hollow fire

Fire crews from District 11 responded to a fire Friday afternoon at the Nick Haugerud ranch located on Green Hollow Road about four miles south of the Highway 23 intersection. The fire was reported here at 4:41 p.m. Friday. Suspected cause of the fire was a crawler tractor. Haugerud said 30 minutes before the fire was discovered he drove the tractor across the area where it started.

Haugerud said the fire covered about five acres of range and grassland but did not spread to trees. Fire crews returned to the scene Saturday when smoke appeared again.

Endicott and St. John also responded to the scene, according to the fire response report.
