DOROTHY HANSEN
A funeral service for Dorothy Hansen, age 99, will be Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Tekoa Community Church. Mrs. Hansen died Monday, Sept. 5, in Auburn. She was a former long-time resident of Tekoa.
EUGENE HEITSTUMAN
Eugene (Gene) Heitstuman, 84, former long-time resident of St. John, died Aug. 25, 2016, at Whitman Health and Rehab in Colfax. In accordance with his request, a funeral service will not be conducted. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Born May 29, 1924, to John and Josephine Sonnen Heitstuman on their ranch in Uniontown, he married Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Heatherly Dec. 24, 1951, in Lewiston. They continued to farm in Uniontown for many years before moving to St. John where they started Gene Heitstuman Trucking. He hauled grain for St. John Grain Growers for many years and also served as the St. John town marshal for many years. He was a master at welding and lathe work. Many times when farmers needed a part and could not find one, he made one.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Betty, Nov. 1, 1998, and a son, Jim Heitstuman.
Surviving are three children, Luana Heitstuman of Beaver City, Neb .; Jeanne Buell of Worley, Idaho, and John Heitstuman, St. John; four brothers, Bob (Ann), Harold (Lois), Art (Shirley) and Lee (Sheryl) Heitstuman; one sister, Joan Heitstuman Landrus; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
