Colfax singer Amy Kraut has been booked to sing at a Pendleton Roundup event in two weeks and at the Walla Walla Rodeo this Sunday. Kraut said she was among about 20 singers who auditioned for the singing assignments which are part of the Pendleton Roundup, and six were selected to perform through Roundup week.
She will sing Sept. 13 at 8 p.m. at the last session of the Bull Riders Association event which precedes the Roundup. The bull riders in Pendleton compete in the Happy Canyon Arena which is behind the convention center.
Kraut said the bull riding has grown in popularity and the Pendleton event, which includes a variety of support activities, is televised.
The Roundup will begin the next day at the Pendleton Roundup grounds.
Kraut was also invited to sing Sunday at the opening of the Walla Walla Frontier Days rodeo. Kraut said she has performed at Walla Walla in the past, and the event organizer called and asked her to return Sunday. She noted she probably got the call because the Walla Walla event calls for a singer who can perform both the Star Spangled Banner and Oh, Canada.
Kraut performed in Colfax at the August First Thursday event. Also, she and Annie Larkin of Colfax performed at the NAIA World Series final at LCSC in Lewiston last spring.
