Short sighted
This letter is in response to the person (or persons) responsible for the short-sighted decision not to honor senior passes at local sporting events. Who do you think helped put Colfax schools on the map, both academically as well as athletically?
Two old sayings come into play here: “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you” and “Don’t forget who brought you to the dance.” There has always been a strong supporting group regarding schools in this community, so don’t turn a cold shoulder to that support complex.
The present track rebuilding project was asking for all the donations they could get. Who knows, there might be another project down the road asking for support, as well as money. Not all of us old Codgers are penniless.

Pro Podlodowski
I would like to recommend that Washington voters vote for Tina Podlodowski for the position of Secretary of State for Washington.
Tina has thirty years of experience as a community leader and an elected official. She is currently working with the auditors and other leaders in all 39 counties to find and implement ways to improve voter participation. Some of these improvements include more ballot drop boxes at the rate of one box for every 15,000 residents, automatic voter registration when obtaining a driver’s license, pre-registration for 16 and 17 year olds, and prepaid postage for ballot return envelopes.
Tina’s community service includes Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Puget Sound; co-founder of Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility; Washington Citizens for Fairness; Cities Technology and Leadership Project, and Human Rights Campaign. She served on the Seattle City Council from 1995-2000 where she championed the complete redevelopment and modernization of the city’s financial management system, which saved Seattle close to $30 million.
Tina has the experience and knowledge to bring change to the current election process that will lead to an increase in voter participation reversing the trend of the last four years when participation has seen a 38 percent drop – a record low for Washington state. Tina believes that “Every voice matters. Every vote counts.”
