McNeillys host grandkids for summer stays

Dick and Suzy McNeilly had grandkids visiting throughout the summer. Suzy traveled to Virginia in June, bringing back Mason and Aidan Cain. The month of July brought Brayden Cain and Alexis Barber with daughter Christina. Grandson Gavin Shafer traveled solo in July and stayed with his grandparents through the first week of September. Daughter Melissa Shafer and Brian Long visited in August, taking Gavin home with them. Now that school has started, the McNeillys are a host family to Johanna Stolle (JoJo) from Vechta, Germany. She is a junior at Colfax High School.

Willene Horton Daniels, 94, died last week. A native of Dusty, she was the daughter of the late Worley and Lena Horton. A family burial will be held at the Dusty Cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. A public memorial service, with chairs under canopies, will be at 11 a.m. at the Dusty Cemetery. A catered lunch will follow at 12:30 p.m. in LaCrosse at the United Methodist Church. Check the Bruning Funeral Home website for viewing times.

Visitors at the home of Warren and Connie Horton the weekend of the WSU/University of Idaho football game included their daughter’s family, Tim and Debbie Hopkins and their son Mitch from Boise. They were joined at the game by T.J. Hopkins who is a student at the University of Idaho.

Friday evening, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the LaCrosse United Methodist Church, will be an “Evening of Prayer for Our Country,” for women only. The program will feature a number of special speakers, including Kaye Arthur and Nancy Lee DoMoss. It will be simulcast on closed-circuit television.
