Colton quarterback Brady Chadwick looks downfield on homecoming Oct. 6 as the Eagles’ Bailey Hartman chases.
Colton's Cameron Bean caught the ball, sidestepped a tackler and bolted for the endzone. St. John/Endicott/ LaCrosse's No. 10, Terrell Webb, ran at him with the angle inside the five-yard-line.
Colton's Grant Kinzer arrived, dropped his shoulder and bam! No. 10 went sliding eight yards past the sideline. Laid on his back, he looked up at the sky.
Bean, in the endzone, flipped the ball to the ref; Colton 66, St. John/Endicott 0.
Less than a minute remained until halftime.
In Colton’s 74-6 win, Brady Chadwick threw 12-for-13 for 382 yards and eight touchdowns. Kinzer caught three passes, all for touchdowns, and 165 yards.
Colton (5-1, 1-0 league) recovered two fumbles in the first quarter and got two interceptions from Reece Chadwick and Pete Schultheis.
St. John/Endicott scored in the third quarter on a 42-yard pass play from freshman quarterback Trey Fleming to Hunter Gingras.
Fleming started in the absence of senior Reagan Harrison, who is out with a non-football injury. He will miss this week's game against Garfield/Palouse followed by the next game at Sunnyside Christian – during which Harrison will be in Indianapolis for the National FFA Convention.
“Reagan is a huge morale booster when he's out there,” said SJE coach Ken Gering.
The Eagles are now 0-5 on the year.
Colton will travel to Sunnyside Christian Friday while SJE plays Garfield/Palouse at home.
Garfield/Palouse 60, Tekoa/Rosalia 8

Now 4-1, 2-0 in league, the Vikings handled Tekoa/Rosalia 60-8.
Hawkins ran for 143 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.
