Serving Whitman County since 1877
Endicott Community Club's annual German dinner and silent auction is booked for Nov. 6 at the Endicott school.
The menu includes German and potato sausage, meatballs, noodles, kraut kouga, sauerkraut, tossed salad, coleslaw, rye bread, rolls, apple crisp, pumpkin dessert, cookies and beverages.
“It's all traditional German food,” said Cinda Tribble, Endicott Community Club president.
Price for those 11 and up is $12, while those age 6-10 are $6. Those five and younger are free.
Funds raised will go toward the Endicott swimming pool. The pool's boiler went out during the summer season, with tubes which run the water through the heat exchanger to the boiler not functioning properly. The boiler was temporarily fixed over the summer to allow the pool to be open through the end of the season, but the boiler needs to be replaced before next summer. Pool manager Nancy Anderson told the Gazette in August that she would like to have the funds raised for the new boiler by winter so she would be able to order it with plenty of time to spare.
Cost of replacing the boiler is more than $7,000. Approximately $1,500 was raised through a midnight swim Anderson organized in an effort to raise some money.
Tribble said the club decided to donate the funds from the dinner to the pool because it is in need.
“All of the funds from the community club go to something in the community, so if we hear of anything going on that benefits the entire community, we try to help out,” she said.
Tribble said there are several silent auction items lined up for this year's event, including gift certificates, gift baskets and homemade items. She said businesses have been generous in donating items for the auction.
“Businesses from around the area donate. We're getting stuff from all over the place,” said Tribble, noting businesses in Colfax, Pullman and Moscow. “We have all different things, a whole range of things.”
In addition to the German dinner and silent auction, a live band will be playing in the school gymnasium. Tribble said Kitchen Cuties, a local band, will perform. The dinner is slated for noon to 2:30 p.m.
