Writing 'shop

Author and artist Elizabeth Sloan will lead a writing workshop for adults at Dahmen Barn in Uniontown Nov. 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Previous writing experience is not required.

The class fee is $54 with registration required by Nov. 12. Minimum enrollment is six; maximum 12. Registrations may be made on the class event calendar listing at http://www.artisanbarn.org where a list of items students should bring is posted.

Sloan's journey to write "When Songbirds Returned to Paris" began from a 100-year-old photograph, identified by misleading names and dates. What followed involved a four-year masters degree thesis, 12 years of research, international travel and correspondence, translations, serendipitous friendships and two publishing houses.

Sloan will sign copies of her book at Dahmen Barn Nov. 6, from 1 to 3 p.m.
