Dinner set for Judge Frazier

The Whitman County Bar Association has set details for a retirement party for Whitman County Superior Court Judge David Frazier, who will retire at the end of the year.

Jenna Brozick, an attorney in Pullman and vice president of the bar association, said the celebration will include a slide show with photographs of Frazier as judge, during his college days and in his law school days. She said she expects attorneys from Whitman, Asotin and Latah counties will be attending, as well as people who Judge Frazier interacts with in the community. She said several judges also plan to attend.

“A lot of judges are coming from all across the state, which is really impressive,” said Brozick.

Gary Libey, Judge Frazier's successor, will be master of ceremonies and give a speech. Brozick added that there will be other speakers, but they have yet to be determined.

Judge Frazier was first elected to the bench after the retirement of Judge Wallis Friel of Pullman. He had previously served 18 years as Whitman County District Court judge and has served for 16 years as Superior Court judge for a total of 34 years of service.

“Thank you so much Judge Frazier for all your years of service, and we’re hoping you have a wonderful time at the lake in your retirement,” Brozick said on behalf of the bar association.

Judge Frazier graduated from Oakesdale High School, earned a degree in political science from Washington State University and earned his law degree at Gonzaga. He started a private law practice in Tekoa.

The celebration will be at Banyon's Pavilion in Pullman Friday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m. It will include a social hour with a no-host bar at 5:50 p.m. with dinner following at 6:30 p.m.

Cost to attend is $35 per person, and RSVPs are required to the Whitman County Bar Association by Nov. 22. Payment can be made ahead of time to Whitman County Bar Association and mailed to 445 S. Grand Ave., Pullman, 99163. RSVPs can be called in at 509-338-0908.

The association has also placed a courtesy room block at the Residence Inn Marriott in Pullman, and anyone needing to reserve a room can do so by calling the hotel. The courtesy room block includes a discounted group rate.

Brozick said she is also looking for photos to include in the slideshow. Anyone who has pictures of Judge Frazier can send them to jennaprinzlaw@ gmail.com.
