Grange will serve

benefit breakfast

Members of the Whelan-Ewartsville Grange will serve a benefit pancake breakfast Saturday morning at the Whelan Grange on Highway 27 just north of Pullman from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Admission price will be $8.

A soup packing session with Homestead Ministries will follow the breakfast to benefit the new food bank which has opened in Potlatch.

Library to close

for Thanksgiving

All 14 branches of Whitman County Library will close Nov. 24-25 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Due dates for library materials have been extended in anticipation of the closure, and no late fines will be charged for these days. Drop boxes will remain open at all locations for returned items. Access to the library’s catalog, downloadable audio and eBooks, and databases for the online librarian, genealogy, foreign language instruction and other services remains available by visiting the library’s website: http://www.whitco.lib.wa.us.

'Scooby Doo'

The Performing Arts School of Regional Theatre of the Palouse will present its fall showcase Saturday, Nov. 19, with performances at 1:30 and 4 p.m. This show, "Scooby-Doo and the Abandoned Mansion," is an RTOP original, based on the classic Scooby-Doo gang, with songs such as "The Monster Mash" and "Flying Purple People Eaters."

Thrifty Grandmothers

Colfax Thrifty Grandmothers Club met at The Center in the Colfax library. Several young people from Colfax High School entertained the group with musical excerpts from “Oklahoma”, their upcoming musical. Kristie Kirkpatrick gave a Power Point presentation about the progress of The Center, current needs and also gave a brief tour of part of the building.

Business conducted including the following donations: Friends of Hospice Memorial Tree of Life, $200; Palouse Empire Fair Foundation, $250 toward the new grandstand; half page ad in the Colfax High School yearbook, $60 ; Fireman’s Toy Box, $1,000; donation for a student’s mission trip to Zambia, Africa, $250; Colfax Food Pantry, $1,000; Coast Transportation, $1,000; Tom’s Turkey Drive, $500, and Whitman County Library, $1,000 to restroom fund for The Center.

Two new members were welcomed to the group.

Pullman LWV

Pullman League of Women Voters' November brown bag speaker will Tony Bean, Moscow-Pullman Airport Executive Director. He will give an update on the current airport construction and answer questions related to the project today, Nov. 17, noon to 1 p.m. at Community Congregational Church, 525 NE Campus Ave., Pullman.
